What is swiping cards?

Swiping cards is the act of running a magnetic stripe card (such as a credit or debit card) through a card reader in order to complete a transaction. The magnetic stripe on the back of the card contains important information, such as the cardholder's name, account number, and expiration date. When the card is swiped through a card reader, this information is read and sent to the card issuer for verification and processing of the transaction. Swiping is a quick and easy way to make payments and is commonly used in everyday transactions such as retail purchases, restaurant bills, and ATM withdrawals. However, with the rise of contactless payment options, such as chip cards and mobile payments, swiping is becoming less common.
